BUSINESSES are needed to sponsor flower displays and ensure the Spa's contribution to a national gardening competition is a blooming success.

Droitwich Spa has entered the Britain in Bloom contest for a number of years, but the town has only ever been commended.

Judges look at flower displays and consider the effort put in by residents.

Droitwich Spa Town Council is asking companies to sponsor displays or hanging baskets. This can be done by making a financial contribution or by looking after a container.

Cllr Glenise Noyes (Con, Droit.South) said: "It is only with the involvement of residents, traders and organisations that we can hope our town will win the hearts of judges.

"Support from groups and firms is recognised and sponsors obviously get to advertise their firm or product."
