A NINE-month-old girl was taken to the Alexandra Hospital after falling from a swing in a Redditch play area not included in a major removal programme, writes Becky Procter.
Mother-of-two Sharon Beard watched in horror as little Siana fell out of the front of a baby seat swing in a playground between Hoveton Close and Watery Lane in Greenlands.
The accident, which happened on Sunday, came just a week after the Redditch Advertiser reported a major £140,000 programme to take out 148 old or dangerous play areas across the town had started.
But a Redditch Council spokesman confirmed the play area was not on the list to be removed.
Siana was released from hospital with a bruised head and face.
A council spokesman said: '"We are aware of this incident and we've spoken to the girl's parents.
"Duty maintenance officers have gone out to look at the equipment to find out the problem with the swing bucket and repair it or if, needed, remove it."
