WORKERS at a distribution centre in the Spa have been granted a temporary reprieve.
Christian Salvesen, at Berry Hill Industrial Estate, was due to close in July after losing its major contract with supermarket giant Sainsbury's.
But on Monday, Sainsbury's bosses announced they want the chilled section open for a further six months to meet demand.
It's expected that around 100 workers will be kept on. The site, which employs 574 staff, was set to shut down on July 23.
The latest move has angered General Municipal Boilermakers' Union (GMB) regional organiser Chris Humphreys.
He said: "Once again everyone is in limbo about their future.
"We don't know who will stay or who will go.
"This decision should have been made at the beginning."
A Salvesen spokesman confirmed bosses are in talks with Sainsbury's and employees about keeping the chilled section open for a further six months.
