SWIMMING: Twin brothers from Wyre Forest Swimming Club won silver medals at the Haden Hill Open Meet.

Daniel Baylis took silver in the 50 metres freestyle, plus a finalist medal in the 50m butterfly, where his brother Jonathon won silver.

Times achieved at the meet could qualify a swimmer to take part in the National Championships later in the year.

Races were swum over a variety of distances, with some age groups combined, and there were competitors from all over the midlands.

Wyre Forest swimmers achieved many personal best times.

Two teams took part in the second round of the Nuneaton Junior Swimming League.

The swimmers, aged from nine to 12, competed in Divisions One and Three but, as several girls were unavailable, the latter team contained no nine-year-old girls.

Division One was contested at Solihull, where Wyre Forest came fifth.

The nine-year-old boys won both their races and the team achieved five first places, three second and 13 thirds, as well as 16 personal bests.
