KIDDERMINSTER picked up just two points in the Birmingham and District Premier League, losing by six wickets at bogey side Wolverhampton.

The damp Danescourt pitch proved difficult early on and the late arrival of star bat Reuben Spiring forced captain Mark Mansell to juggle the batting line-up.

Newly promoted to the Wolves' first team, Tim Connolly bowled eagerly, removing James Pipe for four and forcing another run-out for Amit Sharma (7).

When the former Wolves player Richard Bradford was removed for three, the Chester Road men were reeling on 26 from 14 overs.

Two more wickets fell at the same score, including that of Mansell (11) and Mandeep Singh (0), both removed by Tim Heap.

There was a mini-revival with a stand of 46 between Spiring and Stephen Ralph (12) before Heap took another two scalps and at 82-7 it looked bleak for Kidderminster.

Paul Vinas continued his promising form by hitting a rapid 16 out of 35 with Spiring (53) but Jon Anders (2-6) and captain Heap (5-28 from 24 overs) wrapped up the innings.

Wolves made a safe start to their reply with a solid 39 before Singh removed Andy Maiden for nine in the 16th over.

Anders (56) and Greg Wright (19) put on a further 44 until both fell to Paul Thomas (2-37).

But by this time the Staffordshire team were almost home and dry, losing only one further wicket to Singh (2-41).

Kidderminster 122 (2 points), Wolverhampton 123-4 (20).

Wolverhampton 214-7 (11) Kidderminster 2nds 160-6 (Godfrey Lamb 56no) (7).
