MORGAN toasted Cup success for the second consecutive season after pulling off a late rally to defeat Bell Inn 98 in the final of the Sunday Senior Cup held at Langland Stadium on Sunday.

This was always going to be a close encounter as previous meetings between these sides resulted in a victory apiece in League competition this season.

Few chances fell to both teams in the opening 15 minutes, however it was Tony Reynolds who gave Bell Inn 98 a 19th minute lead after heading the ball inside a crowded goal area past Morgan keeper Carl Preece. Bell Inn 98 held their lead until some disjointed defending allowed Chris Jones time and space to hit the ball from 6 yards out to equalise for Morgan inside 32 minutes.

Some positive movement upfront by Reynolds and Darren Cooke caused Morgan a few problems and with Richard Bird menacing for Morgan, Paul Allen in the Bell Inn 98 defence coped admirably for Bell Inn 98. At the start of the second half it was 1-1 and as the game wore on it was Morgan who were dominating the lions share of the possession, as Bell Inn 98 contained their forward line it was the odd breakaway that eased the pressure on the Bell's defence. Chances were spurned by Matt Stokes and substitute Mark White who saw their shots go high over the crossbar.

As everyone was expecting the game to go into extra time and with 94 minutes played it was left to Richard Bird to score the winning goal for Morgan after his shot from 18 yards tucked into the right hand corner of the net to give the Morgan their second trophy in as many seasons after collecting the President's Cup last year.

Man of the Match Jim Argent was rewarded for his efforts in the Bell Inn 98 defence and Matt Ilsley of Morgan collected the Sunday Senior Cup from League Chairman Norman Simmons to round off an superbly contested final.

In the semi-final of the Under 18s Youth Division Rosebowl Final, Tupsley Pegasus Junior went through to the Final after a closely fought tie against rivals Hereford Lads Club at the County Ground, Widemarsh Common, Hereford. Final score 1-0.

In the only League match on Sunday, Club AC 30 cemented their runners-up position with a 5-3 victory over Fromes Hill. Scott Brutton headed in for Fromes Hill to give them a 1-0 lead. However a quick brace from Tony Reece and one from strike partner Aaron Parr with two minutes of the first half remaining gave Club AC 30 a 3-1 advantage going into the interval.

The second period saw quite a few chances for Fromes Hill and they reduced the defecit from the penalty spot through James Howard after Paul Young had bundled in Club AC 30's fourth of the game.

Aaron Parr scored his second of the game and David Snooks snuck in Fromes Hills third late on to complete the scoring.
