CHAMPS to chumps in the space of a week. That's the embarrassing decline of reigning Cotswold Hills League title holders Exhall and Wixford.

The Millennium's best must fear the worst for the rest of the summer when, after losing their Premier Division opener to Shipston, they were skittled for a meagre 53 at Overbury last weekend before losing by ten wickets.

The winners are one of a trio of sides boasting 100 per cent records in the Readers and John Shepherd joint sponsored league with Wellesbourne indebted to a substantial unbroken eighth wicket partnership to overcome local rivals Kineton by three wickets .

Another vital stand saw Dave Murphy and Andy Corby add 90 in 14 overs after Shipston were reduced to 46-4 by Elmley Castle.

A final total of 162-9 proved 26 too many for the visitors with Rob Sipthorp and Julian Morris taking two cheap wickets as the Castle innings crumbled.

Earlswood also suffered a collapse after passing three figures for the loss of just one wicket. Bidford were the benefactors after setting a stiff target of 211.

Stratford Bards and Stratford both notched up their second straight win in the first division but it is Alcester and Ragley who top the standings courtesy of a better points average following Sunday's rearranged washout against Twy-ning.

Ashton put aside their previous week's batting woes to set Badsey a target of 211 at Ballard Park.

Darren Haines top scored with 79 for the visitors before Badsey slumped from 89-2 to 142 all out as Mike Banks (3-31) and David Turner (3-2) shifted the balance of power.

Henley-in-Arden are setting the early pace in Division Two but Harvington gave them a real scare last weekend.

Henley rattled up a daunting 225-6 but the hosts were just 13 short of their target when they lost their last wicket.

Three teams have yet to lose in the third division after weekend wins for FISSC, Stratford Bards and Exhall and Wixford, while Broadway's second string made it two out of two in Division Four after a 63-run defeat of Tanworth-in-Arden.

Opener Frank Carenza led the way with a half-century, while Duncan Beale's unbeaten 48 late on lifted the Broadway total to 209-7.

Five Broadway bowlers took wickets with opening bowler John Hands the pick of the attack with 3-15.

Catherine-de-Barnes scraped home by three wickets in pursuit of Hockley Heath's 91 to stay top of the Division Five pile but wins for Kenilworth Wardens and Tywning second strings leaves the top trio separated by just two points.
