SHIPSTON'S hopes of a clean sweep of trophies in the Stratford Alliance were dashed after an injury-time goal earned Halfords a 3-2 Edwards of Stratford Cup win last Thursday night.

Paul Hayden had given the Redditch-based side a 2-0 interval lead at Masons Road but Shipston showed their battling qualities to level through a Simon Plank brace.

However, with extra time looming, Matt Hall struck to put the brake on the league champion's silverware spree.

The London Roaders are back at the home of Stratford Town tomorrow night when they face Badsey United in the R M Smith Trophy final.

Then it's off to Kenilworth Town next Tuesday for the George Dutton Cup final when Boca Juniors stand in the way of Shipston and more knockout glory.

A Kevin Reason double wasn't enough to deny Shipston victory in the Nursing Home Cup final as Campden Town went down by the odd goal in five.

Wayne Payne, Kevin Burrows and Marco Bandeira were on target at the opposite end as Excelsior excelled again.

Despite thier successful season, Shipston are on the lookout for a new manager to replace current boss Richard Dunsbee. Interested applicants are asked to ring Gill Hill on 01608 662586.

Bretforton Sports clinched runners-up spot in the Journal Premier Division after a 3-1 win at Bidford.
