A REFLEXOLOGIST from Droitwich is bound for Africa to share her healing hands with HIV and Aids sufferers.

Marie Singleton will leave for Uganda in July with a team of colleagues.

She is still raising the £1,500 required for the month-long journey organised by Reflexology Outreach International.

The married mum-of-two will share her skills with health workers in the struggling country.

The Lyttelton Road resident will visit Tororo, Jinja and the country's capital, Kampala. Mrs Singleton has been using the therapy for ten years and is one of seven reflexologists from across Britain joining the Ugandan mission.

The trip is being supported by the Roman Catholic Church and the team will enjoy a stay in a Benedictine priory.

Mrs Singleton said: "In Uganda, HIV and Aids are rife, especially among children. If we can train people to give massage to sufferers it will break down barriers and help victims feel accepted in their community.

"Many are shunned because of the virus and the one-to-one attention will help them deal with their health and social problems."

Reflexology is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness. It's based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands and head linked to other parts of the body.
