Mr Banner, who was 47, joined Heaphys after school and stayed in the men's clothing business for more than 31 years.

He managed Topstyle Menswear in Church Green East for more than 10 years. He then joined David Copperfield on Unicorn Hill before moving over to Blue Note, now known as Jazz clothing in 1983.

Mr Banner, who was a life-long Wolverhampton Wanderers fan, was well known for his wit and good humour.
