EVESHAM: WILLIAM King, a labourer, of no fixed abode was brought up in custody at Borough Police Court, charged with being drunk and disorderly in the High Street the previous day. He had two previous convictions for similar offences and was sentenced to 14 days hard labour.

75 years ago - Saturday, April 17, 1926

EVESHAM: AT a meeting of Evesham Rural District Council, the Highways Committee reported that a letter from the Norton and Lenchwick Parish Council was read, complaining that Mr S Byrd had not put the footpath in a good state of repair as was promised. The Surveyor said that Mr Byrd would be interviewed and that he would be asked to complete the work at once.

50 years ago - Saturday, April 14, 1951

EVESHAM: MR G Ronald Speed, Chairman of the Evesham and District Chamber of Trade and a director of HJ Speed and Sons Ltd wholesale seed merchants, of Evesham, announced on Wednesday that he intends to contest the West Ward in the Municipal Elections to be held on May 10. No information has yet been received about possible candidates in the other four wards.

PERSHORE: THE northern boundary for shops in Pershore might be too strict, Wychavon planners decided last Thursday. The committee was discussing an application by Mr D H Pollitt, who wanted to change 84 High Street into an antique shop. Members decided to look at the site and see whether the boundary should be enforced in this case.
