Stourport's disappointment at another North Midlands One postponement was eased by an 18-7 friendly win at Luctonians seconds.

The race for the league title remains open after the town's clash with Old Griffinians was postponed for the third time.

Stourport instead took on a useful outfit and a well-drilled side in the set-piece.

The tailing wind gave the visitors the advantage early on but Luctonians defended strongly.

Stourport squandered two kickable penalties and it took an interception and long run from open-side flanker Les Pimm to break the deadlock.

Richard Dorrell converted and added a penalty shortly afterwards to make the half-time score 10-0.

Stourport put in a better second-half performance and capitalised on their opponents' indiscipline.

Awarded a penalty inside the 22-metre line, Stourport elected for a scrum and drove the home side's pack back over their own goal-line, enabling Pimm to touch down.

Dorrell missed a difficult kick but made no mistake with a penalty attempt later on.

Luctonians later went over from short range for a converted try.

The seconds beat Bredon Star 19-10 and the thirds won 20-5.
