THE race for the Midland Alliance title is hotting up after Stourport Swifts drew 2-2 at fellow challengers Stourbridge on Tuesday.

After Saturday's match with Bloxwich was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, a double from top-scorer Lee Booth earned Swifts a midweek point.

They are four points behind leaders Barwell with a game in hand but Rushall's 3-1 victory over Bridgnorth has also put them firmly in the frame.

Swifts have an amazing four games in seven days ahead of them.

Boss Rod Brown is likely to shuffle his pack when they host Bridgnorth in the League Cup semi-final first leg at Walshes Meadow tonight (7.45pm).

Ross Knight, Anthony Davies, Alex Cowley, Paul Mountford and Jamie Hart could all be in contention.

The club visit Bloxwich on Saturday, entertain Stratford next Monday (7.45pm) and head to Pelsall on Wednesday.

Swifts' assistant boss Gary Whild was unhappy with the congestion considering the league has extended its season beyond May 5.

Whild said: "It will give an advantage to some in giving us four games in seven days when there is a two-week extension.

"The league table will be changing game by game."
