THE final round of the Malvern United Angling Association's Winter league took place on the Club's pool at Mathon.
Condition s were terrible with a heavy frost covering everything and thick fog making it impossible to see from one end of the pool to the other which also had a thick film of ice covering all but the island swims, expectations were not high.
Paul Cooper continued his good run of results in the league by taking the match with 12-5-0 of pole caught Carp but this was not good enough to secure the title as Ian Goddard needed only to finish second to top the league and he did just that by taking 7-13-0 of Carp and roach on the long pole.
John Barr was in contention for the title before the match but failed to catch and dropped down to third in the league.
Final standings: 1 Ian Goddard 18pts, 2 Paul Cooper 16pts, 3 John Barr 14pts.
This Sunday, March 4, sees the final chance of the current programme for members to bag some silverware when the Baker Cup takes place on the pool at Mathon. Draw 8am, fish 8.30am-12.30pm.
