Senior officials

DELEGATES from China have chosen Worcester to learn new management skills.

Ten students from Guanxi Province are at University College for a year studying the methods the Western world uses to manage business.

The contract - the first of its type - was won in the face of intense competition and the delegates are all senior management government officials who are studying for an MA in Management Studies.

"The students are largely classroom based," said John Nixon, head of the China section of UCW's International Office. "But they will also be going into businesses in the area and will be taken on cultural visits."

The students arrived in July and have already been to Stratford and Oxford University.

Jinwong Liang, a government information officer from Guanxi Province, said the delegates would be designing their own way of achieving things once they understood international operations in business.
