6 DURING the recent floods I felt concern for the residents of flooded properties, particularly those with the added problems of sewerage.

I also considered that no city should ever be divided by inadequate roads that had not been raised above flood levels experienced most years.

I decided that the best thing I could do was to write to our city MP, Mike Foster, outlining my concerns and to suggest that as Worcester started with a "W" he made certain that this didn't mean we were near the bottom of the list for flood assistance.

His return letter assured me that he was making certain the "voice of Worcester" was being heard at Westminster.

I believe that flood defences and adequate roads should take preference over all else and that the residents who suffer flooding have every right to speak up - or as Mary Dhonau suggests "jump up and down".

Perhaps if well all jumped up and down in unison the vibrations we cause would be felt by those in authority and lead to urgent attention being given to residents and road raising alike.
