EXETER Chiefs coach Ian Bremner sounded out a war-cry before tomorrow's National One clash at the County Ground, warning Worcester -- "Prepare for battle."

Bremner, who after the recent Sixways clash between his side and Worcester labelled Leeds as title favourites, is keen to maintain Exeter's home record against the Gold'n'Blues who have lost to them on the last two occasions in Devon.

Exeter have had the Indian sign over Worcester in the last two seasons, beating them 29-23 in the 1998-1999 season and then taking their scalp again in a 16-10 win last season at Church Road.

And with conditions unlikely to encourage expansive, open rugby, Exeter are confident of victory.

The Chiefs have had no need for rain-dances this week after downpours left the pitch almost under water. However, with Exeter under pressure to clear a backlog of fixtures, due to postponements, Bremner said the game would definitely go ahead.

"The game is on, make no mistake. Even if it rains until Saturday the game will go ahead.

"We believe we can win the match, it is within our capabilities and we are confident because of the recent history of the games here. However, it will be a match that calls for big hearts and strong stomachs with the skill grafted on to those qualities."

Exeter lost at Sixways 25-6 earlier this month but Bremner -- whose side are languishing in the relegation zone of National One --took heart from a second-half performance which denied Worcester a precious bonus point.

And with conditions favouring a skirmish rather than a flowing spectacle, the league leaders can expect a battle of attrition, according to Bremner.

"It will not be easy to play expansive rugby at the County Ground and it will be a good test of their championship credentials to see if they can come away from here with something. It is often these type of games which decide whether you win the championship or finish as runners-up.

"We are very, very hungry for this game and are looking forward to a good battle."

Bremner has been boosted this week with good news on the injury front. Sam Howard is fit to return at fly-half, while Gary Willis comes in for Richard Baxter in the back row.
