THE news that the Town Council intends to levy a totally unacceptable increase in their rate of 61% has so infuriated me that I intend to refuse to pay all of this increase, if demanded.
As a protest, I intend to withhold from any Council Tax demand that part which has been levied by the Town Council in excess of the increase levied by the District Council, which I believe is itself at the top end of that which is acceptable.
This means that if the increase in District Council Tax is 10% then I shall pay a 10% increase in Town Council Tax.
I should not, of course, like to be accused of inciting others to follow, but like-minded Council Taxpayers should at least write in protest to The Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP, Minister for Local Government and Regions, Eland House, Bressenden Place, London, SW1E 5DU.
