THE Murmur will be shouting from the rooftops on Saturday when they become the second Kidderminster band to show off their talents in the national Battle of the Bands competition.

Kidderminster's indie-kings are in the spotlight at Wolverhampton's Little Civic and are urging their fans and others to get behind them as they look to win through their semi-final and secure a place in the final where the winners will receive £3,000.

The contest began with more than 200 bands but is now down to a few dozen, and the lads are hoping success in the event will propel them to greater things.

The Murmur's line-up has changed following the departure of lead guitarist Ryan Jordan, leaving drummer Luiz Ferreira, songwriter and guitarist Kevin Donaldson and bass player Andrew Daglish in the now three-piece band.

However, the group, who are still influenced by bands including Oasis, Cast, the Bluetones and Ocean Colour Scene, have been unaffected.

Drummer Luiz said: "We are still going pretty much as before and we are doing some more recording in March.

"We are then looking to get a mini London tour together for some time around August."

The Murmur have booked a coach to take fans to support them on Saturday, and anyone that would like to join them can contact Kevin on 01562 744920.

The coach leaves Kidderminster's Watermill pub at 7.30pm.
