I'M not sure whether or not we are supposed to be impressed by your front page story (Evening News, Tuesday, January 16), where the Jeavons family gave up hunting after their property was invaded by riders and hounds, terrifying their cat and their eight-year-old daughter.
I found it appalling that they had introduced an innocent child to fox hunting from only a year old.
It would have been more impressive and indeed sensible to have given up this so-called sport for the right reasons.
Surely if these riders and hounds terrified the daughter and family cat that much, then they should be able to see how the poor, terrified fox feels.
I have often wondered whether the best way to change the views of these cold, unfeeling people would be for them to experience being chased by a group of things with the same harm intended.
