BREDON'S NORTON: December 21 marked an important day in Bredon's Norton. The annual carol service was also the occasion when the stained glass window, paid for by private subscription from the village residents, was dedicated to commemorate the new millennium. Consultation between the village committee and the church wardens led to the choice of Gerald Paxton of Burford as the designer. It is based on a text from St Mathew's Gospel (28:19 and 20). The artist, Gerald Paxton, was present at the service which was very well attended.

BREDON HANCOCK'S FIRST SCHOOL: While most of us have been in semi hibernation during the recent spell of bitterly cold weather, the children and staff of our school have not been sleeping. This week they opened their doors for visitors to have a look around the school. Although they were disappointed that no local people went along, they were glad to welcome some prospective 'new' parents whose children are due to start school in September. They were welcomed by Mr Lloyd, the head teacher, and were given guided tours of the school by Y5 pupils in the top class. A very exciting new project will result from the inclusion of the old school house in the school's territory. Work is already progressing there, which when completed will enable the premises to be used for small teaching groups, music tuition and meetings. This will be particularly good news to those of us who value this important building in the heart of the village. The children of years 3, 4 and 5 will be going to Stratford at the end of the lucky month to see the production of The Secret Garden at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
