NIMBLE-fingered visitors can have a go at creating willow sculptures during an open day at the Bishops Wood Environmental Education Centre.

One of the attractions which is expected to prove popular among youngsters is a Viking Longship, made at a previous willow sculpture event.

And visitors to the centre in Crossway Green can also try their hand at a wide range of traditional crafts and stalls, including wood turning, charcoal making, coppice crafts and basket making.

Children can enjoy making twig pencils, lantern-making and storytelling.

John Rhymer, of Worcestershire County Council, which is organising the event, said: "There are some wonderful activities on offer and I expect the Viking ship to be really popular.

"We have been hanging old hub caps which have fallen off cars on the side of the ship for added effect, if anybody has any they can bring them along on the day, just don't steal them specially for this!"

The open day on Sunday will run between 11am and 5pm. For details call 01299 250513.
