ENTHUSIASTS are digging in to support a new gardening club in Chaddesley Corbett.

Dozens of village folk have already shown an interest in Chaddesley Gardeners' Club which holds its inaugural meeting on Monday.

The event takes place in the Methodist Hall, Bluntington, at 7.30pm.

Founder members Judy Berrow and Audrey Cook will present a slide show called A bird's eye view of Chaddesley gardens, followed by discussions of plants and flowers appearing in the garden in January.

Mrs Berrow is secretary of the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens which aims to turn the spotlight on rare plants under threat of extinction, including perry pears in Worcestershire and spotted laurels in Clent.

She said: "We are delighted with the response we have already had to the new gardening club which we believe is the first in the village.

"We are hoping more people will turn up on the night as well."
