STEPS being taken to warn air passengers of the threat of deep vein thrombosis have been welcomed by a Worcestershire MEP.

Liberal Democrat Liz Lynne developed the life-threatening condition after a four-hour flight from Crete a few months ago.

She said: "I am glad to hear that a summit will be held, but it is important that it is followed up by concrete action.

"As I know from my own experience, blood clots do not just affect people on ultra long haul flights or the elderly."

The Civil Aviation Authority and Health and Safety Executive are to meet for discussions on measures to prevent the condition.
