A WEEK off has given Kidderminster Carolians extra time to rest their injured players before Saturday's President's Day home game with high-flying Stafford.

KCs entertain their second-placed opponents in Midlands Three West (North) (2.15pm) after losing 32-7 to them in October.

But Ross Baxter's side are in much better shape now and the postponement of Saturday's game at Birmingham Exiles due to the weather may help them.

Skipper Adrian Taft and centres Matt Smith and Jon Shires along with second-row partnership Simon Wilks and Matt Bennett are nearing return after injury.

The previous week's victory over Leek leaves KCs in seventh position in the 10-team table, six points away from bottom side Newcastle.

And the rest of Saturday's programme was wiped out with only leaders Shrewsbury playing in a 17-15 win at Old Halesonians.

KCs will stage an invitation match at 11.30am for the popular President's Day along with a thirds match.

Meanwhile, the club are exploring the second phase of their redevelopment project after opening a new clubhouse late last year.

The onus will again be on KCs to raise the cash for new changing rooms and they are currently looking at costs.

Fixtures, Saturday: KCs 1sts v Stafford (2.15pm), 2nds v KCs, 3rds v KCs, Invitation match at Marlpool Lane (11.30am).
