INMATES at Long Lartin prison "cued" up to test their snooker skills against some of the world's top players.
Seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry, Jimmy "Whirlwind" White and up-and-coming prospect Marco Fu visited the jail to play informal exhibition matches which helped raise over £2,500 for charity.
Prisoners and staff dug deep to contribute cash to the Acorns Trust during the event and prison officer John Amphlett said: "It was a great success. All the inmates thoroughly enjoyed it. Every one of them reckoned they will be talking about it in time to come. The atmosphere was absolutely excellent."
The snooker players all donated autographed cues to be raffled for the charity and world boxing champion Prince Naseem Hamed, a friend of Stephen Hendry's, sent signed boxing gloves.
