I write with reference to the letter in the Journal (January 11) from Mavis Bell, congratulating Evesham on last year's Christmas lights in the town. Ms Bell, thank you for those kind words.

The lights each year are funded by Evesham Town Council and organised as a joint venture by the council Promotion Committee and Evesham Chamber of Commerce. The Promotion Committee organise the bonfire each year and last year was the initial body behind the It's A Knockout TV show being filmed in Evesham. The Almonry Museum is fully funded by the Town Council. Have you been recently? It's fantastic.

As chairman of the promotion committee I would like inform your readers and any group or party interested in promoting Evesham, that regular meetings are held in the town council chamber and anybody with any ideas or suggestions are welcome to attend.

The town council has funds to help promote Evesham, either directly or indirectly. Many organisations are helped each year by the Town Council in the form of grants, VETA and The River Festival to name just two.

Please, don't be shy, the next meeting will be held on February 7 at 6.30pm. Think not what Evesham can do for you, think what you can do for Evesham.

Andrew Dyke, Chairman , Town Promotion Committee.
