A PARTRIDGE rearer exposed himself to an eight-year-old girl who called at his home to see his chicks, a jury was told.

The victim commented that one chick which was trying to escape was "rather naughty", said prosecutor Walter Bealby.

He alleged that David Parker took out his penis from his shorts and replied: "This one's naughty and keeps trying to escape as well."

Mr Bealby said the defendant then fondled himself for a short time.

Parker, 51, of The Hollies, Astley Burf, denies committing an act of gross indecency with a child.

The incident on July 3 last year made the girl feel sick and after going home she made an immediate complaint to her mother, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Arrested by police, Parker claimed he accidentally exposed himself as he edged forward with chicks in his hand while sitting on a table. He had been wearing cotton shorts and no underwear.

He denied making any comment to the girl or fondling himself.

Parker told officers: "I did expose myself. There was nothing I could do about it. She was just in front of me. I didn't foresee it happening.

"It was all over in a flash - if I can use that expression. It wasn't done intentionally."

Mr Bealby added: "If it was an accident then the Crown won't seek a conviction. But we say this defendant deliberately exposed himself to a little girl, making that comment."

The trial continues.
