MOTOR SPORT: THRIVING Bewdley Motorcycle Club are aiming to encourage more people to become involved in their long list of events throughout 2001.

The 53-year-old club, which has more than 350 members, caters for trials, enduro, grass track, moto cross and road races.

And they meet every Thursday from 8.30pm at the Eagles Nest pub, Ferndale, Kidderminster, to discuss issues and chat.

Trials secretary Jeremy Price, of Burlish, Stourport, said: "We are trying to breathe new life into the club. It's just a very sociable and fun sport.

"Before, it has always been the same people doing things and it's just been presumed.

"But we want to get more people involved and we've introduced a monthly trials meeting.

"Also, people probably don't realise that they can come along to our weekly meetings to have a chat with like-minded people who ride bikes."

Price, whose wife Mandy is club secretary, also runs a meeting for youngsters interested in motorcycles at Stourport Youth House.

Some Bewdley MCC competitions, which are mainly on Sundays, are run just for club members but others are open events which encourage racers from all over the Midlands.

He added: "We've got a very busy year ahead of us but I'm sure it will be a successful one for the club and its members."
