HOCKEY: THE second half of the DTZ Debenham Thorpe League started this week but freezing conditions meant several fixtures had to be postponed.

Kidderminster Boundary first, third and fourth teams were able to play their matches but the seconds and fifths' games were called off.

However, the three teams who did play came away as winners.

The firsts visited Streetly and beat their hosts 5-1 to go joint top in Midlands Two with Sikh Union (Notts).

Kidderminster always looked the better side and never looked back after Tom Jarvie put them ahead from the penalty spot.

Jarvie was on target again before the interval and, after the break, good teamwork produced another.

Nick Adams started a move down the right side, then Mike Brazier joined in the action and Neil Jackson finished off the move when he neatly slotted home.

Jackson scored again and Brazier got the fifth.

Streetly managed a consolation goal after Jackson's second.

Simon Burkes received a yellow card and temporary suspension for a bad tackle with 50 seconds of the match remaining.

A good first half saw Kidderminster ahead thanks to goals from Paul Rhodes and Keith Burgess.

Sutton reduced the arrears when they converted a second-half penalty stroke but the home side held on to secure all three points.

Both teams were a man short for this friendly match and fought out a draw.

There were several good moves for each side but neither ended in goals.

David Brazier nearly grabbed the winner when he connected with a good cross only to be denied by the Stratford keeper.
