ONE of Bromsgrove's well-known eccentrics, who could often be seen walking the High Street with a stick, scarf and wellington boots, has died, aged 76.
Jack Troth, who lived for many years at Bewell Head, left his job at the Longbridge car plant in 1966 to look after his dying father and, for the next 15 years, his reclusive, invalid mother.
In later years, Mr Troth too became a recluse, but he was still a familiar figure on the High Street as he went to collect his pension from the post office.
Mr Troth died on Monday at Wayside Nursing Home, in Stourbridge Road, where he had lived for the last five years.
