IN November, a party of members and friends went on an outing to Turners in Northampton for a Christmas party.
December 13 was the Christmas buffet lunch and on January 10 there was a bring-and-buy and raffle before lunch, followed by entertainment from John and Anita Ruffell with a slide show.
John and Anita live in Alcester and have been giving shows for 25 years. So far, they have done more than 500 and have 60 different themes and 11 different shows.
This show was entitled "Home and Away", which consisted of four sequences.
The first was "Alcester Moments in Time" which gave an insight to the changes to the town and was narrated by some of the people who had lived through them.
The second was called "The Best of Far Away Places" by Vi Adcock and her husband on their travels to Iceland, Venice, Egypt, India, Africa and the Canadian Rockies.
This was followed by "Weir Gardens", Hereford, which is managed by the National Trust, showing lovely scenes of springtime.
The show ended with the amusing "The Green House" showing its preparation and erection, culminating with its destruction by a falling tree.
At the next meeting on Wednesday, February 14, AW Winterburn will talk on "Cotswold Curiosities".
