A MAGISTRATE, who works in Bromsgrove, is in training to raise cash for a centre in the town which caters for children with special needs.
Layton Ward, who sits on the Bromsgrove and Redditch bench, is running this year's London Marathon in aid of Little Oaks Special Needs Children's Group, in Providence Road.
The parent-funded group provides fun activities, day trips and support for children with special needs, their parents and siblings every Saturday.
Layton, who works at the town's Focus Do It All store, has taken part in the event for the last nine years.
He was originally turned down for the 2001 event until organisers had a change of heart after he appealed.
Little Oaks chairman and fellow magistrate Niall Murphy said: "I think this is absolutely brilliant and the money will be used for days out for the children."
Layton said: "Niall told me about Little Oaks one day in court and I promised I would raise funds for him."
Any businesses or organisations wanting to sponsor Layton can call Niall on 0121 680 6102 or send donations to Little Oaks, 48-50 Providence Road, Bromsgrove, B61 8EF.
