WRITING in this newspaper recently, Tory councillor Alan Dent suggested that Sidemoor people owe a debt of thanks to his councillor wife for achieving the proposed construction of a raised crossing outside Sidemoor First School.
For what else do Sidemoor people owe a debt of thanks to Tory councillors? Raising the council tax by twice the rate of inflation, or lifting the council house rents by 25 per cent, while curtailing the modernisation programme.
How about making the land the whole length of Perryfields Road and on both sides available for development, including the allotments and the small holdings?
Now there is something I am sure, we are all overwhelmed with thanks for. Of course we must not forget the closing of Churchfields Road to traffic, but there again was it not that which caused the extra traffic to go by Sidemoor school in the first place?
