THE streets of Alcester were overflowing with colour and tradition on Sunday as crowds of people turned up to watch and participate in the annual Court Leet Service.
A procession made up of the High Bailiff, the Mayor and Mayoress, members of the Court Leet and representatives from Alcester groups and societies set off from Bleachfield Street at 10.30am.
After travelling up High Street, the procession made its way to St Nicholas' Church where it was met by The Rev Stephen Birch.
Mr Birch, from Great Alne, stepped in at the last minute after The Rev David Capron, rector of St Nicholas', had a car crash.
And despite poor weather, High Bailiff Bill Malin felt the service was a great success.
He said: "When I woke and saw the snow I really asked how it could happen to me on this special day but the rain seemed to clear away a lot of it.
"I really feel the lord must have looked down at us for those couple of hours and the weather stayed bearable.
"We had a church full of people and it was a wonderful event for the town."
