A BIDFORD group is trying to push forward plans to develop a community shelter in the village.
The Bidford Community Group has come up with an idea for converting an area of land into a facility which will benefit people from throughout the community.
And members of the group are currently working with Bidford Parish Council to try and find an area of land which can be used for the shelter.
When it is complete, it will provide somewhere for people to meet up and, it is hoped, will reduce the number of youngsters who congregate on the street without anywhere else to go.
Group chair Rowenna Irving said: "Originally we came up with this idea solely with young people in mind, trying to reduce nuisance youths on the street - although Bidford doesn't actually suffer a worse problem than any other village of a similar size.
"But as our ideas progressed we began to think it would be a better idea to develop a facility that would be a meeting point for the whole community, not just the youth.
"There is already a youth club in Bidford but it only opens a couple of evenings a week. This shelter would be accessible to the whole community a lot more of the time."
