FORMER Greens boss Bobby Hope will be the guest of honour at the Bromsgrove Rovers Supporters' Society launch night next month.

Past players and officials are expected to attend the evening on Friday February 16, organised following Monday's meeting of the Supporters' Trust, at the Victoria Club.

A constitution for the new body has been drawn up and agreed and it will run as a neutral society which will enter the Registrar of Friendly Societies.

Phil Baker, club director and founder of the society, said: "This organisation has been set up regardless of what happens to the club and is totally independent of the club.

"We will raise money for Rovers through fundraising activities and the society will then decide how the money will be spent.

"We hope to use some of the cash raised to acquire shares in the club and build up a share portfolio for fans to have a say on what goes on."

The launch night starts at 7.30pm at Bromsgrove Labour Club, in Worcester Road, rather than the Victoria Club. Baker stressed the choice of venue was purely down to the large numbers expected.

Membership is open to supporters and their friends priced £5. Tickets are available by contacting Phil Baker on (01527) 870861.
