SO H Ray of Worcester (You Say, January 16) thinks that police were only needed at the Boxing Day meet of the Worcestershire Hunt to control the terrible behaviour of those protesting against the blatant cruelty to animals that was about to ensue.

Sorry, but I thought it was the hunt that blocked the road for all the traffic as they made their way to the Raven Hotel in dribs and drabs - with no respect for people going about their daily life - then let their hounds run around on the road. T

They then held an impromptu march down the A38 while all the antis stayed on the paths.

Police were needed for the hunt, antis or not - all I would like to know us who pays for them.

As for his/ her reference to a "baying crowd of swearing antis", believe me, having been to several meets as a protestor, the most disgusting, aggressive and threatening behaviour comes from the pro-brigade.

"Countryside bully boys" is a phrase that has been used in this paper to describe them. Quite apt.
