BROMSGROVE & Redditch AC's two veteran Internationals, Phil Carbutt and Bernie Jones, had good runs at the Midland Veteran Cross Country Championships with Carbutt's run winning him the over 45 title.
On a bitterly cold morning, and with the majority of the Northampton course frozen and snowbound, a field of more than 150 started the tough course.
Carbutt and Jones quickly settled into fifth and sixth on the first lap and the duel between the two continued until the start of the last lap when Carbutt's greater strength on the uphill section took him clear.
Carbutt finished fifth securing gold in the over 45 category.
Jones finished 15 seconds down in 6th place but missed out on the medals, finishing fourth in the over 40s.
