FROM the first whistle Droitwich took the upper hand, displaying superiority through the speed of their passing and supporting play.

Spa ladies scored an early goal through centre forward Angie Cornelius. From here on goals flowed for Spa but Stourport wouldn't give up.

Cornelius played an excellent passing game, laying the ball off beautifully to the forward line. Gemma Richards timed her strike perfectly for number two, while three and four came from speedy Kate Rodgman who skipped through the Stourport defence and found the back of the net with ease.

In the second half, Richards got number five showing great skills while Rodgman hammered the ball home with great pace and accuracy for number six. The seventh goal came from a short corner where sweeper Sue Williams got on the score sheet with another fantastic shot. Player of the match Williams converted number eight after a fine one-two with sister Linzi Eland.

Skipper Claire Darby said: "Eight fantastic goals from a team that looked on top form. Stourport showed great sportsmanship by battling to the final whistle, giving the match a friendly atmosphere."

This week Droitwich Ladies' Firsts bid to do the double over Evesham Firsts at home, 3pm start.
