WORCESTER Rugby Club have been dealt a second injury blow in as many days with the news that Greg Meredith is out for the rest of the season.

The centre, who is regarded as a big prospect for the future, injured his knee in Worcester under-21s' recent match against England under 19s and will have further scans this week to diagnose the extent of the problem.

It is feared the 19-year-old will need an operation to cure a cruciate ligament injury which could mean eight months out.

The latest blow comes just a day after Nick Baxter pulled out of Saturday's clash at Exeter with a fractured eye socket.

The fracture, revealed in yesterday's Evening News, will require an operation before Baxter can resume any kind of contact training.

With Baxter ruled out, two wingers vying for his place took their chance to impress last night as Worcester Warriors won 34-12 at North-ampton.

Ally McLean and Spen-cer Bromley each bagged two tries, while Nick Broughton and Nathan Carter also got in on the try-scoring act.Tony Yapp kicked two conversions against a side in-cluding internationals John Leslie and Jon Sleightholme.

Director of coaching Adrian Skeggs said: "This was the best Warriors performance so far this season."
