REDDITCH were dumped to the foot of the Midlands Four West South table at the weekend after their fixture fell victim to the weather.

With the Bromsgrove Road pitch frozen the match against fourth-placed Southam was postponed.

And basement boys Dunlop surprisingly won the relegation battle against Trinity Guild to swap places with the Kingfishers.

Dunlop, who are appealing against a two point fine for fielding an ineligible player, have four points, two more than Redditch, but have played one more game.

Bur Redditch captain Andy Douglas said the result was disturbing because Trinity Guild beat the Kingfishers 45-27 last week.

"It's hard to say whether it's a good result for us or a bad one," said the fit-again skipper.

"We've yet to play Dunlop again but they beat a Trinity side who beat us so it does not look good.

"We don't know whether they have turned the corner since we played them.

"On the other hand Trinity are at the wrong end of the table with us and this is another two points to escape them."

The Kingfishers know they have to secure at least another three points from their final eight games after only one win in ten so far.

Redditch have to bridge the three point gap on Trinity to finish out of the bottom three but Douglas is confident his troops can do it.

"I'm definitely confident we will beat someone, it's just a case of putting it together on the day.

"We have decided to fight to the finish to try and hang on to our league status.

"We will only blood our younger players in friendly fixtures from now until the end of the season."

Redditch entertain mid-table Berkswell and Butts on Saturday (ko 2.15pm).

Second row Wil Thompson is the only absentee after tearing a thigh muscle in training, he faces at least a fortnight on the sidelines.

John Coote and Lee Wlliams are on standby.
