CLIFF Lord (You Say, January 15) has obviously missed the point that the Young People's Leisure Club, and others, were making.
They were concerned that the field next to the club would not be available for the use of the kids. The recent erection of a fence around the field seems to bear this out.
The new pitches, to which Mr Lord refers, are a few hundred yards away and across the other side of the busy A38, and therefore not a realistic substitute.
Finally, as one who has directly benefited from the new pitches, I agree with Mr Lord that it is an excellent facility, but everyone knows it was a sweetener to help the park-and-ride medicine go down.
When the council provides something without an ulterior motive I'm sure they will receive the applause which Mr Lord seeks.
BRIAN MARYON,
Worcester.
