I HAD proof recently that the days of chivalry are not over.
My husband and I went walking on the Malvern Hills - we are both in our 70s. Making our way slowly down, we heard someone behind us, and stood aside to let him pass because he was young and could go quicker than us.
He stopped and asked us if we had come up that path and we said no. He said: "Be very careful - around the next bend its very slippery".
When we reached the bend it was very steep and slippery. One gentleman helped me round on to the grass, and there, waiting to see if we were all right, was the young man who had warned us.
He could see I was having difficulty walking down. He took my arm and helped me down. It made our day as we are all guilty of thinking the worst of the young.
