FRUSTRATION has been the name of the game as far as the weather has been concerned but we're back in action at Mansfield tonight and hopefully it'll be the start of a good run of results.

Because that's what we need -- a lengthy string of wins that will put us back in with a chance of reaching the Nationwide League Division Three play-offs.

With our match against Mansfield at Field Mill called off on Saturday because of a frozen pitch we now find ourselves seven points away from a play-off slot.

But, to be honest, I don't think we can be too unhappy about the way some of the results went on Saturday with Cheltenham going down at Shrewsbury and Hartlepool having to settle for a draw when Carlisle equalised against them in the last minute. Unfortunately, one who got away was Southend who won 2-0 at Leyton Orient.

But, really, it's all about what we are capable of doing. We've got 22 games left and we are still hoping we're going to be able to get on a little bit of a run.

If you look at Hartlepool's last seven league games, they have got five wins and two draws -- that's the type of thing we are looking for.

But it will be difficult for us. Out of our next five matches, four of them are away. All of them, though, are winnable.

If you go down and speak to Steve Cotterill at Cheltenham he'll tell you that they are right in there when it comes to a chance of the play-offs.

Although they are currently six points ahead of us they have played two more games and we have still got them to meet them at their place.

Steve McMahon will tell you the same at Blackpool. We are only four points behind them and have a game in hand, so it is possible.

All we have achieved so far this season is back to back wins twice, but if we could have three or four on the trot it would make a massive difference.

It happens near enough to all teams sometime during the season. But you have to make it happen.

Halifax are another good example. They have had four consecutive league wins now. So it does happen to a lot of sides and we are still waiting for ours.

To win two, draw one and, say, lose one is no good because at the end of it the total number of points is not quite good enough. We need between now and the end of a season to get very close to two points a game which is a tall order I know but, of course, it's possible.

Interruptions for the bad weather, tough, is not ideal. Since before Christmas it's been a difficult period, not just for us but for everybody.

We haven't been able to train because we've had the snow, then the frost and we've had rain since around October. Yesterday it was almost impossible because it was waterlogged.

But although we weren't able to play at Mansfield we were able to have a full scale practice match between our first team and reserves at Aggborough in the afternoon.

Just for the record the first team won 2-0 and Andy Corbett scored both of the goals. I felt that was the best way to do it as the lads were looking forward to a game, so we gave them the chance and it was good.

But we've got a lot of matches coming up now what with mid-week games so now is the chance for that run I've been talking about.

After tonight we've then got to prepare for Saturday's home match against Hull City when I hope some of our injuries will have eased up.

One setback, though, is that we'll be without Mark Shail because of a one-match suspension for picking up five bookings.
