Evesham and District Airgun League

LEAGUE leaders Lygon lost top spot after losing narrowly to title rivals Offenham.

Lygon held a two-point cushion midway through the match but they failed to cling to their advantage and allowed their rivals to claim an important success.

Ady Lewis hit 49 for the winners with Lygon's Keith Harris matching that feat.

That result meant that Stanton would go top if they overcame Servicemen's and they weren't to let the chance slip as they won easily by 27 points.

Jackie Laming, Ian Har-wood and Ron Rose all scored 47 for the winners.

Campden's Bob Pitcher recorded his fourth maximum of the season as his side had 18 points to spare in seeing off the away challenge of Badsey RBL.

The other Badsey team - from the Recreation Club - fared better when they entertained Bidford RBL.

George Byrd was the top scorer on the night with 48 in his side's ten-point triumph.

Andrew Beadle bettered that score with a 49 as Wickhamford got the better of Hampton WMC. But home advantage counted for little as Fairfield Nomads accounted for hosts George and Dragon. Andrew Sexton (45) was the night's best shot.
