PERSHORE: Helpless but Civil - Ernest Pratt, labourer, Elmley Castle, was charged with being drunk at Elmley on the 10th. PC Thomas found him almost helpless, but very civil. Fined 2s6d and 5s 6d costs.

Bredon: The late Mr Thomas Knight Ashton, of Cheltenham, formerly of Bredon, a well-known Gloucestershire and West of England golfer, and for many years secretary of the Cannes Golf Club, left £13,653, net personalty being £13,485.

Evesham: The unsatisfactory state of gas street lighting in Evesham is the subject of representations which the Town Council's Highways Committee have resolved to make direct to the divisional office of the South Western Gas Board with the request that deficiencies should be remedied forthwith. The Borough Surveyor referred to street lights that failed to function and remained unlighted for several nights.

EVESHAM: So far it has been a bumper Christmas for shopkeepers in the Vale. One Evesham supermarket reported this week that last Friday alone about 5,500 people passed through the store.
