WANDERERS travelled to Hagley for their first game for two weeks.

EST HAGLEY FC 1, MALVERN WANDERERS 4

This Stourport & District Under 15's Boys League match took place on a very heavy pitch, which was only just playable which didn't allow Wanderers to play their usual passing style of football. They had to wait until near the end of the first half to open the scoring. Jamie Thomas ran onto a loose ball wide on the left and cut back to Neil Watts, for him to side foot the ball home.

Wanderers came on in the second half and followed the manager's instructions to the letter. They used one or two touch and got the ball wide quickly; this soon paid off with the second goal. Jamie Thomas again ran onto a through ball, rounded the keeper and side footed the ball into the net. Wanderers now became complacent and allowed Hagley back into the match. They were winning all the loose balls and eventually got the reward of a goal from a well taken corner, which the Wanderers' defence should have cleared. Zeki Korral came on for David Bundred and used his extra energy to close the midfield down, this gave other members of the team more space. It resulted in goals for Joel Morris and Jamie Thomas.

Man of the Match went to Anthony Smith.

LYPPARD RANGERS 0, NEWTOWN SPORTS 3

WITH a weakened side and a re-shuffle there was still no excuses needed when Newtown travelled to Lyppard in this Mercian Elgar Under 12's Junior League match, their first game for seven weeks.

From the off Newtown attacked the Lyppard defence and Lee Jenkins and Dave Reynolds both had chances to open the scoring. It was well into the first period when Tom Ferguson scored Newtown's opener, after beating the defence and placing his shot wide of the oncoming goalie. Lyppard tried hard to get back into the game and Newtown keeper Tom Soley made one outstanding save.

The second half saw a different newtown and they dominated the play mainly through the determination and skill of captain Mathew Lake. Newton's defender Michael James played one or two passes forward with superb accuracy and Dave Reynolds scored the second from one such move. It was no surprise when Newtown extended their lead with a brilliant goal by Joe Ball.

Man of the Match was Mathew Lakey.

WORCESTER RANGERS 1,

MALVERN WANDERERS DYNAMOES 9

THE Dynamoes started off this Mercian Elgar Under 11s Junior League match slowly finding the difficult surface conditions spoiling their natural attacking game.

Eventually their first goal came out of deep defence when an excellent pass by Rhy Coles sent Jack Higgs up to the half way line from where he put Max White in the clear with only the goalie to beat. Great play by Ted Grizzell and Luke Butler in midfield provided further scoring opportunities for Jack Higgs (a lovely chip), Max White and Chris Bowen (a fine header).

Rangers came back in the second half and scored a well taken goal but by then Dynamoes had switched Lewis Hooper from keeping duties to the attack and he duly barged through the defence for his customary goal. There was just time for the twin strike attack of Higgs and White to grab another goal apiece before the final whistle.

MALVERN WANDERERS 5,

WORCESTER RANGERS 0

THIS was set to be the toughest test of the season in the Mercian Elgar Under 9's Junior League with both teams unbeaten and separated only by goal difference but a formidable all round team performance from Wanderers sent the visitors home pointless.

With Wanderers electing to play the first half up the slope, and after some tentative opening exchanges, a strong run down the left side from Josh Asquith saw a superb cross converted from close in by Douglas Howie. As Rangers pressed forward Wanderers used the space and the second goal came from another run and cross which this time was skilfully taken by Daniel Perkins. Rangers continued to look for a way back and would have done so after a neat interchange that produced a fierce low drive, but goalie Ben Wheeler hung onto the fine effort. Wrapping up a superb first half display Josh Asquith converted a penalty.

With the advantage of the slope in the second half Wanderers' possession was beginning to tell and after another mazy run down the left a cross from Josh Asquith was crashed in by Douglas Howie. The match was well and truly over when Alex Wren rounded off another quality performance with the fifth goal.
