I WENT to Christopher Whitehead school to speak to county council representatives on Wednesday, December 6 to talk about the Tesco proposal because my young son will go to the school in a few years' time.

It took 20 minutes to find out where the meeting was being held. There were no signs giving directions or any other indication of where it was.

I think that many people, if they knew about the meeting in the first place (it wasn't well publicised), may have given up thinking that it was cancelled or they had missed it.

The propaganda leaflets issued by the county council had "can we afford to miss this opportunity" printed on the front and gave a very biased view inside.

I believe, as did everyone at the school that night, that we need an open public meeting about this proposal. I say this because it is clear from the discussion with the county council representatives that they have already made up their minds.

The people in St John's need to stand up and be counted before Tesco ruins our community and a perfectly good school.
