COUNTY Councillor Colin Beardwood says there is nothing worth seeing in the area.

What about the following - the first canal system at Shrawley, the first hydro-electric power station at Powick, the start and finish of the English Civil War at Powick, a king born at Salwarpe, a prince and king buried in Worcester Cathedral, Sir Edward Elgar and Lord Nuffield, a public transport system thought up in 1864 (still unchanged) a town trail in CrownGate and so on.

The towns of Evesham and Tewkesbury have battle ground tours, Bewdley, Shrawley, Kidderminster and Avoncroft an industrial tour. There is also an Elgar tour, Royal Worcester and Worcester Sauce.

We must be dead from the neck up if we can't make the most of what we've got.

Fernhill Heath,
